Sparrows

Sparrows are commonly known as House Sparrows.  As their name indicates they build their nests in the houses. I remember the days of my childhood, when I compel my uncles to get me the sparrows as I want to have them as pet.

Whenever I visited my Mom’s village for my vacation I used play with the sparrows, kittens, grasshoppers, Jewel beetles and my friends.In my Mom’s grandmothers house there used to be many nests of sparrows. The chirping of the sparrows attracts me very much. So in my grand parents home I asked my aunt for grains and I used to spread them in the front yard. The sparrows did not turn up. I became so craze on them that I used to cry for it. So my aunt and grandparents said that they will get me the sparrows.

Annual leave passed, then I went for quarterly, half yearly holidays. Finally the day arrived, he came to me with a sparrow chick, saying that it fell of the nest in my great great grandma’s home. That was a cute little one and it made more of chirping  noises. My happiness knew no bounds. I fed that with grains but it refused to have any.I fed water and asked my aunt if I can give any other thing so that the chick will eat something.I became so sad that the sparrow chick was not having any thing.

Nearly two hours passed and I was able to hear the noises of sparrows in the front yard. I felt so happy to see them.

But they never sat on the yard , it was making rounds here and there. I asked my aunt why they are behaving  differently. She explained me, that they would have been searching for their kid. As the nests are nearby they are rounding about here. I took the chick outside and the chick started to make more of noises, I really didn’t know where it got its energy. My aunt followed me and said leave the chick to the mother,  but I was so adamant to leave.

She explained me how I will feel if someone has taken me away from my parents. I told her ” I am also with you only now”, then she said “You are on  vacation and willingly you have come”, and that is not the case with the sparrow chick.  I was not convinced. then somehow she made me part with it. I left the chick in the yard. The chick tried its best to flew away, but it failed many times and the mother and father came near it in turns and chirped something and suddenly it had its flight. But the flight was only a short distance and it tried and tried and it succeeded at last and it joined its family. I still have that scene in my memory.

I was seeing that happily and  when they were gone my eyes started pouring out. I felt so sad that I have parted with my friend. My aunt and grandparents consoled me a lot. The whole day I was upset but the kitten which was my pet came and slept with me in my bed that day. It was consoling, the next day the birds came to the front yard to pick up the grains and the chirpings of it were different from that of yesterdays.
